Bordeaux: another green light for Girondins, who should finally be able to play in the league

Bordeaux received a favourable ruling from the regional league on Tuesday, clearing the way for the club to compete in Régional 1 next season under new ownership.

A week after Gérard Lopez's sale of Bordeaux to investment fund Park Bench was agreed, the club secured another milestone on Tuesday. The regional league's control commission gave a positive opinion on Bordeaux's application to compete in Régional 1 for the 2026-27 season, following a financial hearing where the new owners demonstrated banking guarantees and salary regularisation plans. The ruling must be ratified by the league's board on Thursday before Bordeaux can officially begin its campaign in the regional division.
