Venezia awaits Nicola-Cremonese contract termination

Venezia close to appointing Davide Nicola as manager; Nicola must first terminate his Cremonese contract.

Venezia have chosen Davide Nicola as Giovanni Stroppa's replacement and are close to finalizing the deal. However, Nicola remains under contract with Cremonese, from which he was sacked in March 2026, so a meeting between the manager and the Lombardy club is scheduled to resolve the termination. Once that is settled, Venezia will complete Nicola's appointment. The manager has built a reputation for salvaging clubs from relegation, having saved Crotone, Udinese, Genoa, Torino, Salernitana, and Empoli during his career. Venezia, who have collected zero points in their opening six league matches, hope Nicola can help them climb the table.
