Aston Villa to advance for January signing after midweek transfer meeting

Aston Villa held direct talks with Fenerbahçe after Oğuz Aydın impressed in their Champions League meeting, planning a January approach for the winger.

Aston Villa have opened negotiations with Fenerbahçe over signing winger Oğuz Aydın after he caught their attention during Wednesday's 6-0 Champions League defeat at Villa Park. The Premier League side used Fenerbahçe's trip to Birmingham to hold direct talks with club officials about the 25-year-old Turkey international, requesting information on terms and availability. Aydın, who joined Fenerbahçe from Alanyaspor in July 2024, is valued at around €9m and has a contract until 2028. Aston Villa plan to pursue the deal during the January transfer window.
