Go Ahead surprises with signing of former Netherlands international Cillessen
Summarised by MatchPal
Former Barcelona and Ajax goalkeeper Cillessen joins Go Ahead Eagles on a deal until the end of the season as cover for injured Nick Marsman.
Jasper Cillessen, 37, has signed with Go Ahead Eagles until the end of the season after spending the summer without a club following his departure from NEC. The former Barcelona, Ajax and Netherlands international will provide experienced backup after Go Ahead's first-choice keeper Nick Marsman suffered a knee injury that will sideline him until at least the winter break. Cillessen made 65 appearances for the Dutch national team and played in NEC's cup matches last season, including their losing final against AZ.
