Weghorst self-critical despite Twente victory: 'This shouldn't happen to us'

Weghorst scored in Twente's 2-1 Conference League win at Lincoln Red Imps but criticized himself for not capitalizing on more chances and for a defensive lapse on the opposition's goal.

FC Twente defeated Lincoln Red Imps 2-1 in the Conference League, with Wout Weghorst converting a rebound for the second goal. Despite the victory, Weghorst was self-critical in his post-match analysis, saying the team should have scored more given the quality difference and the number of chances created. He also took responsibility for the opposition's goal, admitting he made an error when attempting to jump and inadvertently opened up the defensive wall for Mariano Maroto's free-kick goal. Twente has six points from two matches and faces Pafos FC next.
