Kostic criticised for defending on Hadj Moussa goal: 'I hate this'

Marciano Vink criticised Kostic's defending on Hadj Moussa's equaliser, saying the PSV left-back invited the Feyenoord winger into the box by retreating instead of pressing.

Feyenoord's Anis Hadj Moussa scored to make it 1-1 against PSV, but ESPN analyst Marciano Vink took issue with how Filip Kostic defended the goal. Receiving the ball 40 metres out, Hadj Moussa dribbled at the PSV left-back, who retreated and allowed him into the penalty area before finishing.

Vink highlighted a pattern in Kostic's defending, comparing it to similar goals Hadj Moussa scored against FC Utrecht. "This is what I hate," Vink said on Dit Was Het Weekend. "He keeps walking backwards. It's much better to keep him far from goal." Vink argued Kostic should have pressed higher and forced Hadj Moussa to beat two defenders, with Mauro Júnior also available on the inside.

"The goal is fantastic, but Kostic actually guides Hadj Moussa into the box," Vink concluded. "I think Kostic should get an assist for this goal. It was made possible by him."
