OM: Abdallah, Kamissoko, Moumbagna... why Bruno Genesio decided to lay down the law

Genesio criticized young players' attitudes after their cameos in Sunday's 4-3 win over Le Havre, leading to Abdallah's demotion to the reserve squad.

Bruno Genesio expressed frustration with several young players' performances and attitude following Marseille's narrow 4-3 victory over Le Havre on Sunday. Speaking on Ligue 1+ and in his post-match press conference, the OM manager emphasized the need for humility, particularly from inexperienced squad members.

As a direct consequence, 20-year-old striker Keyliane Abdallah has been demoted to the reserve team (Pro2). The staff had been disappointed with his recent displays, including his performance in the Europa League match at Graz and his cameo against Le Havre. The demotion reflects broader concerns about his attitude over recent days rather than solely his brief appearance on Sunday.

Faris Moumbagna, 26, was also recently sent to train with the reserves, though he continues to work with the main squad. The Cameroonian striker had disappointed in his appearance against Olympiacos. Nouhoum Kamissoko, 21, received a dressing-room lecture but no formal sanction, though Genesio felt the Malian midfielder showed impatience about his status after the return of Hojbjerg. The manager detected widespread impatience among OM's young players, eager to claim starting positions or elevated squad status too quickly.
