Premier League giants missed a trick, Leeds star's latest stats prove he was an absolute steal

Leeds defender Tarik Muharemovic has impressed since his £34m summer arrival, with the Whites conceding just six goals in eight Premier League games.

Leeds United's £34m signing of Tarik Muharemovic from Sassuolo is proving to be an astute piece of business. The 23-year-old Bosnia and Herzegovina international has settled seamlessly into the Premier League, helping Daniel Farke's side maintain the second-best defensive record in the division with just six goals conceded in eight games.

On Sunday against Sunderland, Muharemovic was dominant in a 0-0 draw at the Stadium of Light. He made a block, 10 clearances, two interceptions and three recoveries, winning five duels including 75 per cent of aerial contests. Beyond his defensive work, he was composed in possession, completing five passes into the final third and 10 line-breaking passes, with six of his eight long balls finding their target.

The defender had attracted interest from Premier League giants including Manchester United and Tottenham while at Sassuolo, but Leeds moved decisively to secure him. Already a two-time Hero of the Month award winner this season, Muharemovic is contracted to Elland Road until 2031, though his rapid development suggests he may eventually attract bigger clubs.
