García Plaza still amazed by Fofana: "He's at another level; we didn't expect it"

García Plaza praised Fofana's performance after Sevilla's win, calling the on-loan midfielder a surprise arrival who is operating at another level.

former Sevilla manager Luis García Plaza expressed his satisfaction after returning to winning ways, ending a three-game run where the club had collected just one point. The standout performer was Youssuf Fofana, who provided two assists including a heel pass, and García Plaza was effusive in his praise.

García Plaza recalled that Fofana arrived on loan from Milan in the final minutes of the transfer window. "He's a player of great quality, I've said it many times. For us it was a surprise — we didn't expect to have a player like this with just two hours left in the market, and he's at another level," the manager said. "He's settled in well here, but I tell him he still has to do things better. Sevilla is a very big club and he needs to know that."

The coach acknowledged the match was tough, with Osasuna offering strong resistance and even dominating the opening stages. García Plaza explained his tactical switch to a 4-4-2 formation, noting the visitors played more direct than expected. He dismissed concerns about conceding ten goals in three games, saying: "Winning, winning and winning — that's all that matters. In this league anyone can beat you; all teams go through runs of three or four games without winning, especially when you face Barcelona and Real Madrid."
