We showed a high level against Hearts and now we must establish ourselves as a strong Europa Cup team

Real Sociedad Women manager Gorka Álvarez previews the Europa Cup tie against Fenerbahçe, emphasizing the team's improved form and European ambitions.

Gorka Álvarez addressed the media ahead of Real Sociedad Women's Europa Cup knockout tie against Turkish champions Fenerbahçe, expressing confidence in his squad's readiness for the competition. The manager highlighted the team's progression since taking charge, noting improved results and a stronger collective identity on the pitch.

Álvarez stressed the importance of the first leg at home in Zubieta, where Real Sociedad will aim to secure a favorable result before the return fixture in Istanbul. He acknowledged Fenerbahçe's quality—describing them as physically solid with good technical players and a dangerous transition game—but emphasized that Real Sociedad must focus on controlling their own style of play, maintaining possession and dictating tempo rather than reacting to the opposition.

The manager also confirmed the return of star player Ainhoa Marín, praising her versatility, goal-scoring ability and positive influence on the squad. Álvarez called on supporters to attend the match at Zubieta, describing the occasion as an important opportunity to build momentum heading to Turkey.
