Harry Kane's ex-teacher reveals inside story behind picture of Ballon d'Or winner and his wife with David Beckham

Kane's former PE teacher recalls the moment he and his wife were photographed with Beckham at his academy opening in 2005, before Kane went on to win the Ballon d'Or.

Chingford Foundation School produced two England captains: David Beckham and Harry Kane, who recently became the first Englishman to win the Ballon d'Or in 25 years. PE teacher Mark Leadon reflected on Kane's achievement and shared the backstory behind a famous photograph from 2005, when Kane and his childhood sweetheart Katie were selected as the best boy and girl footballers at their school to pose with Beckham at the opening of his academy in Greenwich.

Leadon praised Kane's character and work ethic both on and off the pitch, noting how the striker's dedication extended beyond sport into all his subjects. He described it as a full-circle moment, recalling how Beckham was the playground inspiration when he started at the school around 1995, and later Kane became the figure young students aspired to emulate. The teacher expressed pride that the school has produced two England captains and suggested there could be a third in the future.
