Youri Tielemans 'wishes he'd stayed at Aston Villa' as Man United descend into further chaos

Former Villa scout suggests Tielemans regrets summer move to Man United as he struggles for form with 12 appearances this season.

Youri Tielemans joined Manchester United in the summer after a £35m release clause was triggered, leaving Aston Villa where he had enjoyed a brilliant season and won the Europa League. The 29-year-old Belgian midfielder has made 12 appearances for United this season but has looked off the pace, appearing further forward in recent games.

Former Aston Villa scout Bryan King suggested Tielemans may now regret the move, particularly as Villa have continued to thrive under Unai Emery's management and recently beat Manchester City. King praised Villa's summer recruitment, saying "I bet people like Tielemans are starting to think, 'I wish I'd stayed'." Tielemans had arrived at Villa on a free transfer from Leicester City in 2023 and made 134 appearances, scoring the opener in the Europa League final against Freiburg before his departure.
