Video analysis: what Sofyan Amrabat brings to Ajax

Video analysis of Amrabat's role as Ajax's defensive midfielder under Míchel, examining his ball distribution and defensive positioning.

Sofyan Amrabat has settled into the number 6 role former Ajax manager Míchel Sánchez wanted him to fill. The 30-year-old's job is to control play and maintain defensive balance. In Ajax's recent visit to Sparta Rotterdam, Amrabat touched the ball 88 times but created no chances, completed only 17 of 79 forward passes, and made no dribbles or shots. Some analysts are beginning to question his added value to the team, though the video analysis examines how he executes his specific defensive responsibilities.
