Argentina still digesting Spain defeat: "We would have won on penalties"

Dibu Martínez claims Argentina would have beaten Spain on penalties in the World Cup final.

Argentina goalkeeper Dibu Martínez has doubled down on his confidence in a YouTube interview, suggesting his side would have won the World Cup final against Spain if the match had gone to a penalty shootout. "If we had reached the penalty shootout, we would have beaten them," the outspoken keeper said on the Los Edul channel.

Martínez claimed that even Spain's own goalkeepers thought Argentina would prevail from the spot. "One of the Spanish goalkeepers told me, thank goodness they won in the match," he added. When asked whether he feared France (2022 World Cup winners) or Spain more, Martínez said France commanded greater respect due to their experience and recent success, though he believed Argentina could beat Spain if they played today.
