De Zerbi on Mateus Fernandes: "You are very funny"

De Zerbi defended Mateus Fernandes against criticism, saying fans' opinions swing wildly based on single performances.

former Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi responded to criticism of midfielder Mateus Fernandes during a press conference, defending the £80 million signing against inconsistent fan reactions. De Zerbi highlighted how opinions shift dramatically after individual matches, noting that Fernandes was labelled a disaster signing two weeks prior but praised as world-class after one good performance. The manager's comments suggest frustration with the volatility of fan sentiment and a desire to give the player time to settle and develop.
