Manchester United's 'madness' for January signing – Red Devils very interested, talks held

Manchester United held talks with Barcelona over Fermín López during a Champions League trip to Madrid, but the midfielder is under contract until 2031 and has no intention of leaving.

Manchester United have identified Barcelona's Fermín López as a transfer target and held multiple meetings to discuss a potential move earlier this month when they visited Madrid for a Champions League fixture against Atlético Madrid.

The 23-year-old attacking midfielder impressed last season with 13 goals and 17 assists for Barcelona and has continued to perform well this term with five goals and four assists from 12 matches. He is a key member of Hansi Flick's squad and Barcelona recently offered him a new contract extending until 2031.

However, the Spanish champions have no plans to sell López, and the player is happy at Camp Nou with no interest in leaving. This makes a move to Old Trafford highly unlikely in the near term, despite Manchester United's reported interest.
