Jose Mourinho addresses Trent Alexander-Arnold exit rumours amid Premier League transfer links

Mourinho dismissed speculation about Trent leaving Real Madrid, saying both Alexander-Arnold and Dumfries have accepted their reduced roles and won't request moves.

Jose Mourinho addressed reports linking Trent Alexander-Arnold with a Premier League return, firmly stating the right-back will not ask to leave Real Madrid despite limited playing time this season.

Trent has struggled since joining Madrid on a free transfer from Liverpool in 2025, making just 14 LaLiga starts last season and only three under Mourinho this term. The arrival of Dumfries and Mourinho's preference for Federico Valverde in defence has left the England international on the bench.

When asked about the exit rumours, Mourinho explained his tactical decisions were made for the team's benefit, not personal. "Trent and Dumfries accepted my explanations well," he said. "They understood that this choice was made in the interest of the collective and was not aimed at anyone." He added: "I don't think either of them is going to ask to leave." Mourinho also offered Trent a chance to play against Racing Santander, confirming Valverde will be rested for that fixture.
