Iraola complains about refereeing decision after 0-1 loss to Arteta's Arsenal

Iraola complained about a clear penalty not awarded to Isak in Liverpool's 0-1 loss to Arsenal, saying the decision would not have been missed if the player had gone to ground.

Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola expressed disappointment after his side's 0-1 defeat to Arsenal on Sunday, with particular frustration over a refereeing decision. Iraola said: "The penalty on Isak was very clear. Everyone saw he was grabbed by the shirt. I don't understand it. I think it wasn't called because he didn't go to the ground. It's a shame we have to tell players to throw themselves on the ground."

Iraola praised his team's reaction and effort, noting they had chances to score including a shot that hit the crossbar and a header from Alexis Mac Allister. "We did enough to score, but obviously we couldn't finish the plays," he said. The loss leaves Liverpool fifth in the Premier League, nine points behind leaders Arsenal and one point behind fourth-placed Chelsea.

Liverpool travel to Fenerbahçe on Wednesday in the fourth matchday of the Champions League league phase, where they currently sit third with a perfect record.
