Thomas Tuchel weighs up Cole Palmer England recall after bemoaning 'missed opportunities'

Tuchel has conducted medical checks on Palmer ahead of Friday's squad announcement for Nations League matches against Croatia and Spain.

Thomas Tuchel is considering recalling Cole Palmer to the England squad after the Chelsea forward underwent medical checks, a standard procedure ahead of Friday's 10am squad announcement for Nations League fixtures against Croatia and Spain.

Palmer withdrew from the Three Lions camp in September citing a minor muscle injury, drawing criticism over his commitment to the national team. Tuchel had previously stated that Palmer "misses too many opportunities" and "misses way too many camps with injuries," adding that the 24-year-old needs to be present in camp to impress and "step up" to justify his selection.

England face Croatia at Wembley next Thursday before travelling to Madrid to play world champions Spain. The Three Lions currently sit second in their Nations League group, three points behind leaders Spain.
