Deschamps rejects Manchester United approach to replace Carrick

Deschamps reportedly rejected an approach from Manchester United to replace Carrick, preferring to take time before his next move.

According to the Daily Mirror, Manchester United approached Didier Deschamps about replacing manager Michael Carrick, who has come under pressure despite a recent 3-2 Champions League win over Roma. United sit 17th in the Premier League with one win in nine games and seven consecutive matches without victory.

Deschamps, free since leaving France after 14 years in charge, was seen as an ideal profile to revive the club. His experience, trophy record and immediate availability without transfer fees appealed to United's decision-makers. However, the former World Cup-winning coach declined the opportunity. At 58, Deschamps has said he wants to take time to reflect on his next project rather than rush into any role, and has already turned down a lucrative three-year offer from Saudi club Al-Ahli.
