Mourinho on Ronaldo's Portugal exit: "His career is not finished"

Mourinho respects Ronaldo's decision to retire from Portugal but suggests his overall career is far from over and hints he deserved a different farewell.

José Mourinho has commented on Cristiano Ronaldo's retirement from the Portuguese national team, expressing respect for the decision while suggesting it does not mark the end of CR7's playing career. "It's not a retirement. His career is not finished. Anyone who knows him knows he still has objectives to achieve," Mourinho said.

However, the Real Madrid manager expressed some reservations about how Ronaldo announced his departure. The five-time Ballon d'Or winner chose to say goodbye through a video in which he read a letter, rather than organizing a public ceremony to mark the conclusion of his time with Portugal. Mourinho indicated he would have preferred Ronaldo to stage a different kind of farewell when the time comes for him to fully retire from football.
