'Freak accident': Arsenal star reveals how Martin Zubimendi was injured in warm-down nightmare
Summarised by MatchPal
Merino reveals Zubimendi and Hincapie both suffered ankle injuries during Arsenal's post-match warm-down session after the Leeds win.
Arsenal midfielder Martin Zubimendi and defender Piero Hincapie were both injured during a warm-down session following the 2-1 Premier League victory over Leeds at the Emirates Stadium. Both players sustained ankle injuries, with Hincapie's considered more serious. Neither was available for Tuesday's 3-0 Champions League win against Lille as they underwent scans and further assessment. Manager Mikel Arteta defended the session's intensity, clarifying it was a training session for unused players rather than a routine warm-down, and stated such incidents had not occurred in his seven years at the club.
