Kulusevski opens up on gruelling recovery: 'Return seemed almost impossible'

Kulusevski returned to action after 526 days out with a fractured kneecap and complications, coming on as a substitute against Coventry City.

Dejan Kulusevski made his long-awaited return to competitive football on Monday, replacing Mohammed Kudus in the 87th minute against Coventry City after spending 526 days sidelined with a fractured kneecap and subsequent complications suffered in May 2025 at Crystal Palace. The Tottenham winger missed Sweden's World Cup campaign and watched his club battle relegation during his absence. In an emotional post-match interview, Kulusevski revealed the psychological toll of his recovery, admitting that months ago he feared he might never play again, but maintained belief throughout his gruelling rehabilitation. He is now determined to move forward and resume his career.
