Maresca explains why Haaland is on the bench today

Haaland starts on the bench due to minor injury management after taking a knock against Ipswich; 17-year-old Floyd Samba leads the attack.

Manchester City host AEK Athens in Champions League matchday three, needing to bounce back after losing 2-4 to PSG at home last week. Manager Enzo Maresca has benched Erling Haaland, explaining it is not a serious injury but rather minute management combined with minor issues that arose after Saturday's 3-2 win over Ipswich, where Haaland scored twice. Teenage striker Floyd Samba, 17, makes his Champions League debut in Haaland's place. City are also without Semenyo, Nunes, O'Reilly and Kovacic.
