Stephen O'Donnell reflects on Motherwell retirement jibe as defender convinced tide will turn for struggling Steelmen

O'Donnell reflects on being told to retire last season before bouncing back, urging struggling teammates to believe in themselves as Motherwell seeks to reverse a five-game losing streak.

Stephen O'Donnell has encouraged his Motherwell teammates to maintain belief after the club's recent struggles, having experienced similar criticism himself last summer. The Scotland international was told to retire before a Clyde match but went on to have one of his best seasons. With Motherwell having lost their last five games under manager Alfred Johansson and sliding down the table, O'Donnell believes the tide will turn if players like new signings Willy Vogt and Alex Paulsen continue doing the right things. He emphasised that football is fickle and that personal conviction is key to overcoming current form.
