Cleverley to go back to basics with Plymouth

Plymouth manager Cleverley plans a stripped-back approach after back-to-back League One defeats, focusing on basics ahead of Cambridge trip.

Plymouth Argyle manager Tom Cleverley has responded to consecutive League One losses by pledging to return to fundamentals for Saturday's trip to Cambridge United. After a 3-0 defeat at Stevenage on Tuesday, which he called "unacceptable", the Pilgrims have slipped from first to fifth place. Cleverley told BBC Radio Devon he will simplify preparations, emphasizing fighting spirit, defensive solidity, and winning duels over tactical detail. He plans an unusual approach by not naming the team until Saturday to identify players with the right mentality.
