Pubill's redemption: Simeone shows the way

Atlético Madrid defender Marc Pubill gets a chance to bounce back against Deportivo La Coruña after an error in midweek's Champions League loss to Stuttgart.

Marc Pubill, Atlético Madrid's standout defender from last season and World Cup winner with Spain, made an uncharacteristic error in Wednesday's Champions League match against Stuttgart that led to a goal. Manager Diego Simeone has given him another opportunity to prove himself, with Pubill set to start in Saturday's La Liga fixture against Deportivo La Coruña. Despite the mistake, Pubill's overall performance metrics were strong, including a 91.6% pass accuracy rate.
