Darwin Nunez's private message to new Liverpool star says everything about his true character

Nunez messaged Araujo after his goal v Villarreal, joking about whether the defender would outscore him at Liverpool.

Darwin Nunez remains in touch with his former Liverpool teammates despite leaving Anfield last summer. After Ronald Araujo scored in Liverpool's 4-3 Champions League comeback win over Villarreal, the Uruguayan defender revealed that Nunez had congratulated him with a self-deprecating jibe, asking if Araujo would score more goals than he did at the club.

Nunez departed Liverpool in 2025 following 143 appearances in which he scored 40 goals and assisted 26 times, winning the Premier League, Community Shield and Carabao Cup. He moved to Al-Hilal for £56.6 million but was omitted from the squad after Karim Benzema's arrival, and is now on loan at newly-promoted Al-Diriyah in the Saudi Pro League.

Araujo joined Liverpool on loan from Barcelona in the summer and has since made 11 appearances with three goal contributions. The 27-year-old centre-back has become a fan favourite and refused to rule out a permanent move, saying the decision is not entirely in his hands.
