Anselmi: "We didn't let ourselves be swayed by the noise or the context"

Elche manager Anselmi praised his team's 3-0 away win at Rayo Vallecano, crediting intelligent play and mental focus despite a partial stadium closure.

Elche manager Martín Anselmi expressed satisfaction with his side's 3-0 victory at Rayo Vallecano, highlighting the team's tactical intelligence and ability to stay focused despite external distractions. Anselmi noted that understanding Rayo's direct, vertical style of play was crucial to the performance.

"We were an intelligent team because you have to understand what the match demands," Anselmi said in his post-match press conference. "We knew Rayo has very fast players and is a direct team, so we had to play a very complete match, which we did."

The Argentine manager emphasized that the team did not allow noise or context to affect their performance, pointing to consistent work and improvement as the foundation of their success. He also addressed the unusual atmosphere at Vallecas, where the stadium's end section was closed following incidents from Rayo's previous match against Athletic Club. Despite the partial closure, Anselmi felt the crowd created a genuine football atmosphere and that his team successfully isolated themselves from external noise.
