Van Hanegem: 'I noticed something against PSV that could be a danger for Feyenoord'

Van Hanegem warns Feyenoord players are showing overconfidence after their PSV draw, risking their Eredivisie lead with poor decision-making.

Willem van Hanegem, the legendary Feyenoord midfielder, has raised concerns about his former club's mentality following their 2-2 draw at PSV on Sunday. Writing in his column for Algemeen Dagblad, Van Hanegem observed troubling signs in how Feyenoord's players conducted themselves during the match.

The 372-time Feyenoord player highlighted specific examples of players attempting to do too much individually. He questioned why Gjivai Zechiël was taking the ball directly from Charles Vanhoutte's feet, and noted that Vanhoutte himself was trying to dribble past opponents too frequently. Van Hanegem stressed that Feyenoord's success has come from maintaining discipline, running hard, and choosing simple solutions.

Van Hanegem also criticized the performances of Luciano Valente, Nacho Ferri, and Anis Hadj Moussa, suggesting they were not at their best. Despite the draw, Feyenoord remain top of the Eredivisie, though Van Hanegem warned that if players begin to overestimate their abilities, it could prove dangerous for the team's title ambitions.
