Angry Neville lashes out at Manchester United player group

Neville blames Manchester United's players for Carrick's struggles, saying they lack professionalism and have failed to support the manager.

Gary Neville has launched a scathing attack on Manchester United's squad following the club's poor run of form under Michael Carrick. With United winning just one of their last eight Premier League matches, Carrick's position is under threat and a crisis meeting is planned to discuss his future.

However, Neville argues that sacking Carrick will not solve the underlying problem. Speaking on Sky Sports, the former United defender criticised the players for lacking professionalism and failing to support their manager. "He will look at a number of players with disgust," Neville said. "They haven't won a title in fourteen years. You can't keep allowing the people who chose the manager to keep making mistakes."

Neville acknowledged that Carrick himself has struggled tactically, with United producing poor performances against Tottenham, Como, Atlético Madrid and Fulham. However, he emphasised that Carrick is a man of integrity and professionalism, qualities he says the players lack. "There are players who aren't professional, don't go to bed on time, don't eat healthily, don't think about Manchester United every minute of the day," Neville added. Former defender Toby Alderweireld agreed, noting that the players' body language showed they were unwilling to do everything necessary to change their situation.
