Bruno Fernandes appears to make cryptic dig at Michael Carrick after Man United benching

Bruno Fernandes liked a social media post appearing to criticise manager Michael Carrick after being benched for the Bournemouth defeat.

Bruno Fernandes has liked an Instagram video that appears to be a dig at manager Michael Carrick following his benching for Manchester United's 3-0 loss to Bournemouth on Sunday. The reel shows a giant protecting a town from destruction before eventually letting go after the townspeople turn on him, captioned "Never push a loyal person to the point where they no longer care." Fernandes seems to be positioning himself as the giant, suggesting his loyalty to United has been tested by his treatment.

The captain had previously criticised the club's tactics after the 4-1 Champions League defeat at Como, leading to his omission from the Bournemouth squad. United confirmed the decision was based on "pure football" reasons. Fernandes has been United's standout performer for multiple seasons and broke the Premier League assist record last season with 30 assists.

Carrick is on the brink of being sacked after eight games without a win, with the club awaiting regulatory approval before announcing his dismissal. Eddie Howe, Julian Nagelsmann, Unai Emery, Fabian Hurzeler and Antonio Conte are among the candidates being considered to replace him.
