Michael Carrick leaves Carrington as talks over his Manchester United future take place

Carrick left Carrington after three hours as crisis talks over his future took place; United have won just two of 12 games this season.

Michael Carrick spent just over three hours at Manchester United's training ground on a day of crisis talks over his future as head coach. He arrived at 1.50pm to watch the Under-21s face Hull City in a behind-closed-doors match before departing at 5pm with his son Jacey, who is in the club's academy.

The 45-year-old's position has come under intense scrutiny following a dismal start to the season. United have won just two of their first 12 games and are winless in eight, with back-to-back heavy defeats to Como in the Champions League and Bournemouth 3-0 in the Premier League. Director of football Jason Wilcox and chief executive Omar Berrada also left Carrington during the day after arriving early in the morning for the talks.

During the Bournemouth loss, supporters sang Carrick's name while directing abuse at Wilcox and Berrada and booing the players off the pitch. When asked if he expected to be sacked, Carrick said he was "not expecting anything in particular" and that he loves the club and will "always do what I feel is going to be best for the football club, whatever decision is made."
