Cubarsí narrowly misses Ballon d'Or top 10

Barcelona defender Cubarsí finished 12th in the Ballon d'Or voting, narrowly missing the top 10.

Pau Cubarsí, 19, was named among the 30 Ballon d'Or finalists but fell just short of the top 10, finishing in 12th place. The Barcelona centre-back, who was named best young player at the recent World Cup, ranked ahead of PSG's Pacho (20th) and fellow Spain internationals Cucurella (18th) and Ferran Torres (16th). Cubarsí opted not to travel to the Ballon d'Or ceremony at London's Palladium to recover from recent demanding matches against PSG and Real Madrid, focusing instead on Barcelona's upcoming fixture against Alavés.
