Second Kopa for Vicky and Romeu makes his debut

Vicky López wins the Kopa Trophy for the second consecutive year; former Barcelona manager Pere Romeu wins the Johan Cruyff Award.

Vicky López claimed her second Kopa Trophy at the Ballon d'Or ceremony in London on Monday, cementing her status as the world's best young footballer. The Barcelona midfielder, who won the award for the first time last year, has enjoyed a spectacular season with the Spanish champions, scoring 17 goals and providing 15 assists across 53 matches for club and country. López is a four-time winner with Barcelona (Liga, Copa, Supercopa, Champions League) and Nations League champion with Spain.

In her acceptance speech, López paid tribute to her teammates and family, dedicating the award to her mother. She defeated Barcelona teammate Clara Serrajordi, Sweden's Felicia Schröder, Netherlands' Veerle Buurman and USA's Lily Yohannes in the voting.

former Barcelona manager Pere Romeu also won the Johan Cruyff Award for best coach, succeeding Chelsea's Emma Hayes and England's Sarina Wiegman. Romeu described the award as a collective achievement, crediting his players and staff.
