Barcelona's academy dominates Best Young Talent award
Summarised by MatchPal
Barcelona's academy dominates the renamed Best Young Talent award with seven wins since 2018, including three consecutive for Lamine Yamal.
The Kopa Trophy, established in 2018 to honour the late French legend Raymond Kopa, has been renamed the Best Young Talent award for the 2026 edition. Barcelona's academy has dominated the honour, winning seven of the ten awards given across men's and women's categories since its inception.
Lamine Yamal claimed his third consecutive award in 2026, following victories in 2024 and 2025. Barcelona's other male winners include Pedri González (2021) and Gavi (2022). In the women's category, Vicky López won back-to-back awards in 2025 and 2026.
Only three awards have gone to players from other clubs: Kylian Mbappé (PSG, 2018), Matthijs de Ligt (Juventus, 2019), and Jude Bellingham (2023, recognised for his Borussia Dortmund form despite his move to Real Madrid). No award was given in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
