Liverpool latest: 'Scary' warning issued to Premier League and Florian Wirtz injury update

Wirtz sustained an ankle injury against Brighton but says it 'isn't too bad' and expects a quick recovery.

Liverpool secured a commanding 2-0 victory over Brighton on Sunday, with Pascal Gross's own goal and Alexander Isak's strike securing the win. The result extended Liverpool's run to four consecutive victories and marked the first time Brighton failed to score in a Premier League match this season.

Florian Wirtz picked up an ankle injury in the 65th minute after being brought on as a substitute. The German midfielder twisted his ankle in a challenge but moved quickly to reassure supporters after the match. "I think it should be alright," Wirtz said. "It's not too bad. I don't know much yet, we have to check it, but it won't be long."

Match of the Day pundit Ashley Williams praised Liverpool's recent form, describing them as "scary" for their Premier League rivals. With players like Wirtz, Alexander Isak, Bradley Barcola and Cody Gakpo in form, Williams believes Liverpool are serious contenders who could soon challenge Arsenal and Manchester City.
