Tottenham transfer approach revealed – Conditional on sale of Richarlison or Solanke

De Zerbi wanted to sign Marseille's Amine Gouiri in summer but the move collapsed because Tottenham couldn't sell Richarlison or Solanke.

former Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi targeted Marseille forward Amine Gouiri during the summer transfer window, hoping to reunite with his former player from their time together at the French club. Gouiri, 26, had impressed under De Zerbi with 17 goals and six assists in 53 matches for Marseille.

Spurs made contact with the player's camp or the club, but the move never materialised. According to La Provence, the primary obstacle was Tottenham's inability to offload either Richarlison or Dominic Solanke — one departure was deemed necessary to fund the Gouiri signing. De Zerbi has since sidelined the Brazilian from his plans, with a potential January exit possible. Should Richarlison or Solanke leave in the winter window, it remains unclear whether Spurs would revive their interest in Gouiri.
