Bring in Arne Slot – Manchester United told to fire Carrick 'immediately' to appoint ex-Liverpool manager

Dutch journalist Krabbendam urges Manchester United to sack Carrick and appoint ex-former Liverpool manager Slot, who has been without a club since May.

Martijn Krabbendam, a Dutch journalist covering Feyenoord and the Netherlands, has called on Manchester United to immediately dismiss Michael Carrick and appoint Arne Slot as manager. Slot has been out of work since Liverpool parted ways with him in May, with the club appointing Andoni Iraola as his replacement.

Manchester United are struggling in 16th place in the Premier League with just one win from eight matches and seven points. Their recent form has been dire, including a 3-0 home defeat to AFC Bournemouth at the weekend. The club also exited the EFL Cup to Brighton in September.

Krabbendam said: "They need to bring in Arne Slot. If he wants to go there, they should fire Carrick immediately." Fellow Dutch journalist Sjoerd Mossou criticised United's leadership under Sir Jim Ratcliffe, calling the club "the worst-managed club in the world" and pointing to the chaos surrounding Erik ten Hag's departure and the subsequent resignation of the sporting director. Slot has previously indicated he prefers managing at club level rather than international football, dismissing speculation about the Netherlands job in August.
