Gattuso: "The table gives me a headache. We still need to take a real beating"

Gattuso praised Lazio's 6-2 rout of Sassuolo but urged caution, saying the team must stay focused on their process rather than the table.

Lazio extended their lead at the top of Serie A with a commanding 6-2 victory over Sassuolo, with over 10,000 travelling fans in attendance at the Mapei Stadium. Manager Gattuso acknowledged the performance but stressed the need for continued improvement, particularly in defensive organisation.

"The table gives me a headache," Gattuso told DAZN. "We have a path to follow, which is hard work." He highlighted that Sassuolo's reduction to ten men had helped but noted Lazio had struggled in similar circumstances against Monza. Gattuso emphasised the importance of maintaining intensity and pressing opponents high up the pitch, warning that the team had not yet faced a serious setback. "We haven't taken a real beating yet," he said. "We'll see how we react when that happens."

The manager praised Di Noslin not just for his goals but for the pressure he applies to opponents, and thanked Simone Inzaghi for his comments about Lazio's progress. With 15 points still available, Gattuso reminded his squad of past disappointments, including their early Coppa Italia exit to Mantova three months earlier.
