Kroos: "I have to praise Mourinho"

Kroos praised Mourinho's tactical setup after Real Madrid's Camp Nou victory, highlighting the Portuguese coach's role in reversing recent Clásico trends.

Toni Kroos analysed Real Madrid's recent Clásico win at Camp Nou, crediting José Mourinho's tactical approach for the turnaround. The former Madrid midfielder noted that Barcelona had dominated the previous six or seven Clásicos, with Madrid conceding an average of four goals in those encounters, but Mourinho's setup changed that dynamic entirely.

Kroos was impressed by Madrid's bravery both with and without the ball. He highlighted the team's defensive organisation, particularly praising Huijsen's marking of Fermín and noting how Barcelona's key players like Pedri and Raphinha appeared uncomfortable and made uncharacteristic errors. Madrid's intensity in duels and their ability to press Barcelona effectively were decisive factors. Kroos also discussed the absence of Vinícius Júnior and the importance of Mbappé, describing both as invaluable assets for the midfield due to their pace advantage over defenders.

Kroos concluded by acknowledging Madrid's difficult period over the previous two years and expressing that the club deserved to enjoy this success, while also joking about his hope that PSG would not win a third Champions League title.
