Jaissle 'definitely wants' Newcastle United to make specific signing – Could change season

Newcastle manager Jaissle wants to reunite with striker Toney at Al-Ahli, but no negotiations have begun between the clubs.

Newcastle United manager Matthias Jaissle is reportedly keen to sign Ivan Toney from Saudi club Al-Ahli, according to Saudi journalist Khalid Al-Shenaif. Jaissle managed Toney at Al-Ahli before joining Newcastle in August, and the striker has scored 14 goals in 14 league matches this season. However, there are currently no negotiations underway and the two clubs have not reached any agreement. It remains unclear whether Newcastle would pursue the move in January or next summer. Toney's contract at Al-Ahli runs until 2028 and he is valued at €20m. The shared ownership of both clubs by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund could facilitate negotiations if Newcastle decides to move forward.
