Leeds United face tough battle for signing – Whites make approach for January move

Leeds have opened discussions to sign Maccabi Tel Aviv midfielder Sissokho in January but face competition from Levante, who are preparing a €3m offer.

Leeds United have registered their interest in Maccabi Tel Aviv's Issouf Sissokho and are preparing to submit an official bid for the 24-year-old defensive midfielder in January. The Malian has attracted attention from several clubs due to his profile and contract situation; he joined Maccabi Tel Aviv as a free agent in 2024 after leaving Bordeaux and has made 97 appearances for the Israeli club.

Levante UD are providing stiff competition, having already made initial contact with Sissokho's agent and preparing to submit an offer of around €3m in the coming weeks—above his €1.7m Transfermarkt valuation. Sporting Braga are also keen on the player. Sissokho's contract runs until 2027 with an option for a further year, and reports suggest his future could lie in Spain. Leeds will need to act quickly and match or exceed Levante's bid if they are to secure the midfielder's services.
