'Future Ballon d'Or winner' Olise impresses at Bayern

Bayern director Jan Christian Dreesen declared Olise will win the Ballon d'Or, after the winger scored twice and assisted in the cup win over Magdeburg.

Michael Olise impressed in Bayern Munich's cup victory over FC Magdeburg, scoring twice—including a Panenka penalty—and setting up Ismael Saibari's goal. The French winger has now recorded 12 goals and six assists in 12 Bundesliga appearances this season, adding four goals and two assists across four Nations League matches for France during the recent international break.

Bayern director Jan Christian Dreesen was asked whether Olise could follow Harry Kane in winning the Ballon d'Or. "I am 100 per cent convinced that Michael will win the Ballon d'Or," Dreesen said. "With us he has an environment that helps him shine, so you can excel individually."

The comments come as Bayern seeks to extend Olise's contract, which runs until 2029. Real Madrid showed interest in the London-born Frenchman last summer, but Bayern's technical director Max Eberl said the club was confident in his potential even before his breakthrough. "Overcoming setbacks can shape a player," Eberl explained, noting that conversations with Olise's then-manager Oliver Glasner at Crystal Palace helped convince Bayern of his quality.
