Arsenal make decision over Max Dowman red card appeal before Liverpool clash

Arsenal will appeal Dowman's red card from the Carabao Cup loss to Fleetwood, hoping for a ruling before Sunday's Liverpool match.

Arsenal have decided to appeal the straight red card shown to 16-year-old Max Dowman during their shock Carabao Cup penalty defeat to League Two side Fleetwood on Tuesday night. Dowman was sent off late in the match after kicking out following a heavy challenge from Harrison Neal. Without a successful appeal, the teenager would face a three-match suspension. The club must submit appeal documents to the FA by 1pm GMT on Thursday. Arsenal hope the FA will rule before their Premier League trip to Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, though the timeframe for the decision remains at the FA's discretion.
