Football Daily | Fleetwood go their own way to down Arsenal and live Carabao Cup dream

Fleetwood Town upset Premier League Arsenal 1-1 after extra time, winning 5-4 on penalties in the Carabao Cup fourth round.

Arsenal's second-string side travelled to League Two Fleetwood for a Carabao Cup fourth-round tie expecting a comfortable victory, but the coastal club pulled off a shock upset. Fleetwood went ahead in difficult conditions, and although Arsenal equalised through Viktor Gyökeres, the match went to a penalty shootout after extra time. Young Arsenal defender Max Dowman was sent off for retaliation during the match, leaving Mikel Arteta's side depleted. Fleetwood's Conor Haughey scored the decisive penalty to seal a 5-4 shootout win, sending the hosts through to the quarter-finals. Fleetwood manager Matt Lawlor said he had no preference for the quarter-final draw and wanted to build on the victory with a win against Bristol Rovers on Saturday.
