On 29 October 1994, 17-year-old Raúl González Blanco made his Real Madrid debut in a match at Real Zaragoza's La Romareda stadium. Manager Jorge Valdano made a bold decision to include the young prospect in the starting XI, notably ahead of established star Emilio Butragueño. Despite a nervous start—his first chance went high—Raúl impressed with two assists and tireless work rate.
