Player 'completely open' to joining Newcastle United – Ross Wilson shares Jaissle's stance on signing

Al-Ahli striker Toney is open to joining Newcastle if terms suit his sporting and financial goals, with manager Jaissle keen to reunite.

Newcastle United have received encouragement regarding Ivan Toney after the Al-Ahli striker indicated he would be open to joining the Premier League club under the right circumstances.

Toney, 30, has thrived in Saudi Arabia since arriving from Brentford in August 2024, scoring 14 goals and providing two assists this season. Newcastle manager Matthias Jaissle previously managed Toney at Al-Ahli, where the striker scored 72 goals and contributed 17 assists in 93 matches. A source close to Toney told 365 Scores the player is "completely open" to reuniting with Jaissle at St James' Park, provided Newcastle's proposal meets his sporting and financial aspirations.

However, Al-Ahli sources confirm there has been no verbal or formal offer from Newcastle, and the Saudi club has no plans to sell in the January window. Toney is contracted until 2028 and valued at €20m. Newcastle sporting director Ross Wilson denied reports that Jaissle had requested the signing, though the exact nature of his comment was not relayed by the outlet.
