Leon Goretzka is ready to explode at Aston Villa, his stats are startling

Goretzka made his first Villa start in the Carabao Cup against Bournemouth, completing 97% of passes and creating three chances despite the 3-0 defeat.

Leon Goretzka finally made his first start for Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup against Bournemouth on Wednesday, 28 October, after joining on a free transfer from Bayern Munich during the summer. The 31-year-old had been sidelined since his arrival due to fitness and injury concerns, but played 70 minutes in midfield alongside Joao Gomes.

Despite Villa's 3-0 loss, Goretzka impressed with his performance. He completed 97% of his passes, created three chances, and had a shot from inside the box. He also completed 100% of his two dribbles, made five recoveries and two clearances, and contested eight duels. Fans have responded positively to his display, with many calling for him to start regularly and feature in the upcoming match against Fulham.

Emery brought Goretzka in as an experienced midfielder to help Villa navigate a difficult season following the departures of key players including Youri Tielemans, Ollie Watkins, Ezri Konsa and Emi Martinez.
