Trent Alexander-Arnold 'tempted' by 'surprise' Chelsea move

Alexander-Arnold could be tempted by Chelsea if his situation at Real Madrid doesn't improve under Mourinho, though Liverpool return is ruled out.

Trent Alexander-Arnold's future at Real Madrid is in doubt after falling down the pecking order under Jose Mourinho. The 28-year-old right-back has seen limited minutes and could explore a return to English football if his situation doesn't change.

Chelsea are emerging as potential suitors, with former Manchester United scout Mick Brown telling Football Insider that the Blues are prepared to offer Alexander-Arnold an exit route if he becomes available. Brown noted that while Alexander-Arnold is a talented footballer, Mourinho doesn't rate him highly in the right-back position, and he has also been out of favour with England.

A return to Liverpool, where he left in 2025, appears unlikely. Football Insider reported that Liverpool are not interested in bringing him back given the way he departed, with fans angered by his move to Real Madrid and the club fearing backlash. Chelsea could be his most likely destination if he decides to leave the Bernabeu.
